<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I</span><span style="font-size: small;"> am soon to reach 3,000 sales and I'd like to say that I've learned a lot during the past 2 years. As the name of my business indicates, my original idea was to sell hand knitted items. I have a love for so many crafty things and when I stumbled upon the idea to make closet dividers, I had no idea how well they would go over. At this point, I may need to consider changing my company's name. LOL.</span><br />
<br />
Initially, I made the designs on my computer and then outsourced printing with either FedEx or Office Depot. At that time, I was cutting the designs by hand , but I now have an electronic cutter...boy am I grateful for technology!!<br />
<br />
For over two years, I have purchased my label paper from <a href="http://www.onlinelabels.com/material_white_matte_labels.htm">Online Labels.com</a>. The company sells a variety of colors and styles. The paper quality is excellent. It takes ink superbly well. Best of all, the price is great. There is no minimum quantity, and you are allowed request free samples. The people who work there have always been very kind and helpful. They have (in me) a customer for life! I highly recommend this company for both business and personal needs.<br />
<br />
Anyway, at the first of the year, it's good to reflect and see just how far you've come. How good God has been. I am grateful. Thank you to all of my customers. Just so you know...I'm still knitting. :-)<br />
<br />
Have a teriffic Thursday.<br />

She has been sharing a bedroom with the youngest, and we decided to surprise her with her own room. It took some creative conversations, but we had her fully convinced that she would not be getting her own bedroom for a while, although I am painting the wall in her favorite color. After much shopping (both in stores and especially on Craigslist), sneaking around, hiding things,etc...the room is all done and it was a perfect surprise.<br />

It was great fun (not the many,many, coats of primer over the dark blue wall---who paints a wall navy blue?), and now after about 6 weeks of planning, I almost don't know what to do with myself. LOL. I plan to show all of the before and afters for the painting and craft projects. But for now, here is the after:<br />

I needed a gift for a baby shower on Saturday and after considering a few patterns in Ravelry, I am so happy that I settlled on the Baby Sophisticate<strong>.</strong> I cast on Wednesday evening and by Friday morning the sweater was completely knit and blocked.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIWMUfhyvAzV1gGFK9FyPzLAMF_s7H1-GYcuDzZ3aO1GZV0Ajhz-ArIScZBdaC2FF3ffXhDFeHgmB7QzZsnywJmNhsn1ZrCHPaa3gOIdE5bgTf4GbR4NmPJWDa37l-dgz-kIh30KmQ6BGY/s1600/DSC04360.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIWMUfhyvAzV1gGFK9FyPzLAMF_s7H1-GYcuDzZ3aO1GZV0Ajhz-ArIScZBdaC2FF3ffXhDFeHgmB7QzZsnywJmNhsn1ZrCHPaa3gOIdE5bgTf4GbR4NmPJWDa37l-dgz-kIh30KmQ6BGY/s400/DSC04360.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I used Berroco Vintage in a heathered brown and, I have to also call this a one skein wonder. I even have a few yards of yarn left over. The hat is very stretchy and will fit for quite a while. The pattern is entitled Little Boy Blue was also found in Ravelry. To complete the look of a little professor I embellished a onesie with a plaid tie.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnyvJifbqQJb0wq8-c9Ki-Y3L4kBF0ws5oBpt-EmM57bN0QhOXUPXu9Hhbk7SaYxxL-tPqjXzPSawK5zNhi8vzOjnr-79YqEf64UhlM72rjmmPBKa-yHmxtHx72T6A8htQbKjA1xRfC69U/s1600/DSC04361.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnyvJifbqQJb0wq8-c9Ki-Y3L4kBF0ws5oBpt-EmM57bN0QhOXUPXu9Hhbk7SaYxxL-tPqjXzPSawK5zNhi8vzOjnr-79YqEf64UhlM72rjmmPBKa-yHmxtHx72T6A8htQbKjA1xRfC69U/s400/DSC04361.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
There are quite a few comments in Ravelry about the size of the sweater. It tends to run small, but I made the supposedly 6-12 month size with the sleeve length for the smaller size so that it would fit 0-3 months. The mom to be loved it and so do I.Zinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10477063035482257867noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6749271016794111302.post-21690415962958693602012-07-06T11:05:00.001-05:002012-07-06T11:05:33.202-05:00What I've Been Up ToI
have had trouble keeping up with Etsy sales and stocking my physical store over at The Market. I ran across these little dresses and thought embellishing them would be a quick project. So, after purchasing bows, I just sewed them onto the dress and, it was, indeed a quick project. I also purchased pants. I think that I will cut them and make them into bloomers. I will also add the bow to hair clips to complete the look.<br />

This morning I completed a custom order and it very much like <a href="http://hisgloryhandknits.blogspot.com/2010/06/things-that-begin-with-letter-s.html">this one</a> that I made 2 years ago. It took about 3 tries to get this hat to size. I always crochet and knit tightly, but for some reason, while working on this hat I had a tighter gauge than normal. When I've made newborn hats before with half double crochet, I've increased to 48 stitches. In this case, I had to increase to 56 and use a size H hook. </div>

LOL. I had a grand total of two people to enter the contest and I hated to even trouble the Random Number Generator. Initially, I tried eenie, meenie, minie, mo and the winner was commenter #2. Then I used the handy dandy Random Number Generator and it also chose commenter #2.<br />

Congratulations to Kari! Thank you Kari and Andrea for entering.<br />

Well, I finally got around to working on the baby shoes and they are now ready for the giveaway. I wanted to make sure that they would be ready for shipping so that there would be no further delays to getting them out to the recipient.<br />

I chose a gray and white sole with green uppers because I saw the cutest little dress in these colors at Target. I tried to find an online link, but it does not appear to be sold online. Anyway, the colors definitely work for a boy. The size is 0 (Newborn).<br />
<br />
The giveaway is for residents of the United States and Canada. As always, just leave a comment. You could say something like I'm keeping or I'm giving. Good luck! Let's give it a week. The time for commenting will end next Tuesday at 12 noon.<br />
<br />
Please take the link to my Etsy shop <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/Hisglory">His Glory</a>, and like my facebook page and you will receive an additional entry. Be sure to make it a separate comment.<br />
<br />Make sure that I am able to get in touch with you, should you win!<br />

Have a great Memorial day weekend!Zinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10477063035482257867noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6749271016794111302.post-56640081691563299932012-05-19T08:22:00.000-05:002012-05-19T08:24:02.252-05:00Baby LoafersI've been making quite a few pairs of Little Button Loafers...playing around with them a bit. I get bored when I do the same thing over and over, so I thought how about a tassel?<br />

You can never go wrong with the basic button loafer. It's a great pattern. <br />

Because I'm beginning to dislike sewing on buttons, especially unfinished wooden buttons, I also made the one button variety.<br />

She really likes crochet hangers and so I decided to make her a gift. Spud and Chloe has a <a href="http://www.spudandchloe.com/blog/2011/05/hang-it-up-free-pattern/">free patern</a>. I went to Tuesday Morning and purchased a set of hangers that had an atrocious design on them. I guess it wasn't that bad... Anyway. I removed the old fabric design and covered it with a fun crocheted fabric.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_w6wnPYUIQjRtJdptjBllPkEtgkfYYhRPCym2NkzO9ate_eJ5zco63-eOyIgdIynSJnN-wxa_n9JPhG6dWmJ1SNqAeDp7-8ree6VhTutb-_REWNqCHozKs-HhBM63oVQza8hBCrep7r_a/s1600/DSC04159.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_w6wnPYUIQjRtJdptjBllPkEtgkfYYhRPCym2NkzO9ate_eJ5zco63-eOyIgdIynSJnN-wxa_n9JPhG6dWmJ1SNqAeDp7-8ree6VhTutb-_REWNqCHozKs-HhBM63oVQza8hBCrep7r_a/s320/DSC04159.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>

<br />
<br />
Then, I thought what more could I do... I decided to cover a pant hanger as well. It was a quick project (the best kind). She really liked them and says that the pants did not get a hanger fold, which was my goal. Anyone (who can crochet, that is) can do it. If you have some batting around your house, add it to the pant hanger and even further insure no pant fold lines!<br />

Mighty busy is what I've been. My oldest daughter delivered my first sweet grandchild on February 20. I hosted my daughter's baby shower, and, of course, she received handknits, crocheted items, sewn items, closet dividers, etc... from G-momma. </div><br />

Sometimes it is just a time to renew some of the previous years' resolutions. I have never been in the habit of making resolutions per say, but I begin the new year with much anticipation. I anticipate that I will be a better person that I was last year...more loving, more kind, more forgiving. All of the attributes that should be associated with a Christian. And so, I put my best foot forward. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">I tell many of the young ladies that are around me "If a task looks too big, just break it down. Deal with the now of it. The next hour of it. After a while, you look up and a whole day has gone by and you were doing that thing that seemed insurmountable. The day becomes a week, a week becomes a month, then a year has gone by. That is how I deal with life. I never look too far into the future. "So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (Matthew 6:34)</div><br />
Speaking of resolutions...A customer ordered an array of colored closet dividers. She organizes her closets by color. I think that is a very good idea. I organize my closet by the type of clothing. Short sleeved, long sleeved, etc.... How do you organize your closet? Seems like a good time for a give-away. On Sunday I received my ONE THOUSANDTH sale on Etsy. So let's celebrate!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBYLmB_iQ1dOBn5netibl666jEXsZeKe32m1qtmF8TJb4QF3gN2wnN_zza1lRBefK5ORnfuA8E8c7SANgeVsUKXNA3XBiFaryp3H0IzN7ZUe_AfFVi1gJnRj8URzvcf0dmVHrUHpq43yfC/s1600/DSC04130.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBYLmB_iQ1dOBn5netibl666jEXsZeKe32m1qtmF8TJb4QF3gN2wnN_zza1lRBefK5ORnfuA8E8c7SANgeVsUKXNA3XBiFaryp3H0IzN7ZUe_AfFVi1gJnRj8URzvcf0dmVHrUHpq43yfC/s400/DSC04130.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />

</div><div style="text-align: justify;">I was sitting on the couch last Tuesday, December 21 around 9:00 a.m., and from whence I don't know where came an overwhelming, overcoming need to knit something for my immediate family, which includes my husband and 4 kiddos. So, as a result of this strong desire, I got myself up off the couch and headed to my local yarn shop. The people there were very glad to see me, and they encouraged me to fullfil my overwhelming, overcoming desire to make those gifts. I purchased my yarn (and some size 8 circulars, which I am still unsure that I needed, and came home and immediately started to knit.</div><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">My oldest daughter had asked for a pair of fingerless gloves a little while ago. So, of course, that is what she got. I made a pair of <a href="http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEsummer06/PATTfetching.html">Knitty's Fetching</a>:</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBA8zR3ViszMkDi-S4VDcJojd1YZRCSk72l9eJI0zT3o80xCvDFGAJiWdReANOdXWIalw1CdGdKHbTfJYKaz5mH00vUQ-lzdjuUoT6Cbtjj5HuDy3KJtMms-U9A5b7-JU-GG5Ilmm5xtS4/s1600/DSC04119.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBA8zR3ViszMkDi-S4VDcJojd1YZRCSk72l9eJI0zT3o80xCvDFGAJiWdReANOdXWIalw1CdGdKHbTfJYKaz5mH00vUQ-lzdjuUoT6Cbtjj5HuDy3KJtMms-U9A5b7-JU-GG5Ilmm5xtS4/s320/DSC04119.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">I used Dream Baby by Plymouth which is 100% acrylic and wonderfully soft. She is allergic to wool. I got them made in one day, but waited and worked the thumbs on Saturday.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">For my two younger daughters, I made two not so slouchy, slouchy hats with flowers. I used Berocco comfort because one of them is also allergic to wool:</div><br />

Next I made my husband a hat using the Turn A Square pattern by Jared Flood. It can be found in Ravelry's patterns.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4UvEBlPWP19tdusfHOhuvy0W4WbNWxA3axOvNCuPgcQ38RRXwJmix-yes_6mE_6mZ9tw1pj5aqhFSJPSicxrqmJdHBuN5ck6ubs_RrIa6F-oTJgXrHWyrf3OZedNRkxXZKou43gRJY2ef/s1600/DSC04120.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4UvEBlPWP19tdusfHOhuvy0W4WbNWxA3axOvNCuPgcQ38RRXwJmix-yes_6mE_6mZ9tw1pj5aqhFSJPSicxrqmJdHBuN5ck6ubs_RrIa6F-oTJgXrHWyrf3OZedNRkxXZKou43gRJY2ef/s320/DSC04120.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">My husband really likes earthtones. I started out striping the hat, but I don't know that he likes stripes, seeing as he doesn't currently own any striped hats.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">In all of my sneak, sneak, sneakyness I also made my son the same hat. I had him to try on his dad's 'cause I wanted to see if the number that was cast on would work for his hat. His got all of the attention at church on Sunday. I have had about 7 people to ask for this hat now.</div><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDZ3At3zzQCoJ7KISxWrdWW64M_9__ZtpRzIuB6jvwbNhbymLz5_Hb5Q358T9f6q57Yc1FM9Nu0lJ-waw_QvhRoLF-OIkxyKcRnfxOEeYkDEB42hlrMrxnKznqeZMSu2XqT6Ma4MwC4J-l/s1600/DSC04124.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDZ3At3zzQCoJ7KISxWrdWW64M_9__ZtpRzIuB6jvwbNhbymLz5_Hb5Q358T9f6q57Yc1FM9Nu0lJ-waw_QvhRoLF-OIkxyKcRnfxOEeYkDEB42hlrMrxnKznqeZMSu2XqT6Ma4MwC4J-l/s320/DSC04124.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Berocco Vintage</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Gray and White</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Ironically, all of the hats made had a cast on of 88 stitches. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"> I think that I'm going to take a little break from knitting. I made all 5 projects in 5 days, not counting Saturday which was used to put the thumbs on the Fetchings. No knitting, until next week. That is about as long as I can go, I think. :-D</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">After waiting over a week for the turquoise yarn to come in, and slowly knitting the applied I-cord around the perimeter of the blanket, it is finally done. (Actually when you put something down and just don't knit it, that may not be thought of as slowly knitting). I had to make that little confession. Anyway, I really like the blanket even in it's pre-blocked state.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiglLI0eadxW2SXFDVp77AQ_n5ItifU5y5FCcQW3zj8dt6KNHc_cUMx4wgtv1ViXZB781qjN2HcBOg0uTXgeeBb0Dpoc613VZ0GCapzW5PUlahaD33rLhrqFuXrSeRLH3tHBEtvfrdJfZaI/s1600/DSC04101.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiglLI0eadxW2SXFDVp77AQ_n5ItifU5y5FCcQW3zj8dt6KNHc_cUMx4wgtv1ViXZB781qjN2HcBOg0uTXgeeBb0Dpoc613VZ0GCapzW5PUlahaD33rLhrqFuXrSeRLH3tHBEtvfrdJfZaI/s400/DSC04101.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">I'm thinking to make another soon. Just needing to establish in my head what colors--maybe orange and white with a hot pink border?</div>Zinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10477063035482257867noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6749271016794111302.post-17916132680075621442011-11-25T13:25:00.001-06:002011-11-25T13:25:37.546-06:00Little Daniel<div style="text-align: justify;">Let me introduce you to Daniel Jared Brown III, who so fashionably wore his little knitted sack home from the hospital. I also made a matching hat, but didn't get a good shot of him in it. He is precious and we (my girls and I) anticipate many days of kissing sweet little cheeks.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMTQuuV3ZLLd-3PZPoXO8sCHPBQwBBQykqXNpRWpK2GfM44qhJUsXqLeRirXXgceem17JnRPufoHoMKh3cUYRCxW-5kAuLoXod1TGv2IQTDA4J4VirrGQ-ozj9tJsfn_YEUzMlc5vPUBqM/s1600/DSC04093.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMTQuuV3ZLLd-3PZPoXO8sCHPBQwBBQykqXNpRWpK2GfM44qhJUsXqLeRirXXgceem17JnRPufoHoMKh3cUYRCxW-5kAuLoXod1TGv2IQTDA4J4VirrGQ-ozj9tJsfn_YEUzMlc5vPUBqM/s400/DSC04093.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">I definitely recommend the pattern-- (link was given in earlier post). The item is useful and practical, and it doesn't hurt that it is a fairly quick knit.</div>Zinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10477063035482257867noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6749271016794111302.post-5586071384427157912011-11-15T15:47:00.001-06:002011-11-15T15:47:52.819-06:00On the Needles<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUYZVRsf4oj-qdAuYhCj48W-eGzWX3ECvPUoZhf_lWZfGBSKFn8ZPNTsBZ4JBV71sgA-5w7u9_NSR04ZDvYlcLhw9oD5cWCjByX9spOEXzypJyIRipEdSlY46B1nxPfq0eSLix7IBCHyUU/s1600/DSC04088.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUYZVRsf4oj-qdAuYhCj48W-eGzWX3ECvPUoZhf_lWZfGBSKFn8ZPNTsBZ4JBV71sgA-5w7u9_NSR04ZDvYlcLhw9oD5cWCjByX9spOEXzypJyIRipEdSlY46B1nxPfq0eSLix7IBCHyUU/s400/DSC04088.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">I cast on for this baby blanket yesterday. My intention was to make a solid colored blanket with a turquoise trim, but it is so difficult for me to make a monochromatic item. I will do about 8 repeats with the red mixed in and go back to the solid pink. There will be a turquoise or black trim. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">We are experiencing lovely weather in OKC... sunny and nice. Although the above picture does not confirm it, it's a good day for pictures. I was supposed to visit the young lady for which the blue baby sack was made. She has a beautiful baby boy. I've got to get a picture of him wearing the sack. It fits very well and he is adorable in it. I guess that will be my next post.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">That's it for now. Have a lovely evening!</div>Zinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10477063035482257867noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6749271016794111302.post-73060274513041407212011-11-02T09:50:00.000-05:002011-11-02T09:50:34.049-05:00Baby Sack<div style="text-align: justify;">It's easy to see why fellow Ravelers enjoyed this pattern and many have stated that they are sure to make it again. There are, however, some areas in which you are left to figure it out on your own. Anyone who has made a sweater (especially one with a placket) could figure it out easily enough.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6lalWCpKNBEpcFa3aoI_kxWq2p_MIkNA-osgkhTFzUxWEcNj1FF-9LdPFryN2DmqgEQ7E6px0aENlj6SGgd8Un5WdA5hQW2kwrY2Ivijmx9e2B44CI9g3W3wIMCQL0sLo0wZH97I7DdTR/s1600/DSC04079.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6lalWCpKNBEpcFa3aoI_kxWq2p_MIkNA-osgkhTFzUxWEcNj1FF-9LdPFryN2DmqgEQ7E6px0aENlj6SGgd8Un5WdA5hQW2kwrY2Ivijmx9e2B44CI9g3W3wIMCQL0sLo0wZH97I7DdTR/s400/DSC04079.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
I thought that I'd "push" the "easy button" and use snaps and faux buttons as it were. If I ever make it again, I would go ahead and make the button holes. Using snaps causes you to spend more money, and do more work. Sewing them on was pretty time consuming. Each snap has 6 stinkin' holes around it and you have to sew two pieces for every snap. It turned out well and I'm happy to have a finished item this many days out from the shower.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCmxoV3-jfOFoPsKvLVtB7FLWP0huQ0JE64JPvyheTCdpBnGHg-fgAZk5_FYeDdp3dfkJ16jJfXL1YFVnuO4TZwZXD4If1s7PeGUEQKTbsuNUZeBfZQNg0E9a70HmtMVPhyphenhyphenfFmS3VAZy7Q/s1600/DSC04080.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCmxoV3-jfOFoPsKvLVtB7FLWP0huQ0JE64JPvyheTCdpBnGHg-fgAZk5_FYeDdp3dfkJ16jJfXL1YFVnuO4TZwZXD4If1s7PeGUEQKTbsuNUZeBfZQNg0E9a70HmtMVPhyphenhyphenfFmS3VAZy7Q/s400/DSC04080.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I plan to make onesie cookies for the shower, I guess I will have to take them off of my "I'll Never Do This Again" list. LOL. Just the reason, I try never to say never.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">This has been a week filled with lots of activity and very little knitting. A friend was involved in a car accident over the weekend and has spent the week in my home. She is doing much better and actually went back to work today. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The knitting goes pretty quickly once you start knitting in the round. I elected to use snaps underneath the buttons rather than make buttonholes, and went out and got those items this morning. I plan to work on it this evening and most of tomorrow. Furtunately for me, the baby shower is actually <em>next </em>weekend, as it is scheduled for November 5.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">I will show the finished object pictures next week.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Have a great weekend!</div>Zinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10477063035482257867noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6749271016794111302.post-80814741911551250852011-10-22T10:37:00.001-05:002011-10-22T14:31:02.128-05:00Mrs. Brak's Baby Sack<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgceIyKVdmN6CkHpGr3VGM1uIF3V0XdOs3OMsITZgrheQsPDCO8fYj20y-qq3iFeioYB7d8pq3W6is8MLdodaycxbzBSbu2ILAw0EHw-cdztJWERDb2zvWewRJXvKw7jIcgBhmQO41o7grG/s1600/DSC04069.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgceIyKVdmN6CkHpGr3VGM1uIF3V0XdOs3OMsITZgrheQsPDCO8fYj20y-qq3iFeioYB7d8pq3W6is8MLdodaycxbzBSbu2ILAw0EHw-cdztJWERDb2zvWewRJXvKw7jIcgBhmQO41o7grG/s400/DSC04069.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">I will be hosting a baby shower next weekend and wanted to knit something for the baby. I put <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mrs-braks-dawstring-bottom-baby-kimono-with-raglan-shaping">this pattern</a> (Ravelry link) in my Ravelry favs sometime ago. I wanted to do something different, and I thought I'd go with it. The pattern is very simple and includes much stockinette.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">I've just completed the raglan increases and will now settle into mindless knitting. I just hope that I don't get bored with it because I would like to get it completed by Thursday. Since I am hosting, there is much other work to do regarding the shower and I can't afford to put <em>all</em> of my time and effort into the baby sack. Did I know about this shower that I am hosting some time ago? Do women not carry children for 9 months? Of course I did, of course they do. Maybe it just doesn't mean as much to me unless I wait until the last minute.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">I will set a daily goal. Maybe 15 rounds a day?...</div><br />
Have a super Saturday!Zinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10477063035482257867noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6749271016794111302.post-63325516266664282532011-10-18T08:40:00.001-05:002011-10-18T08:42:04.790-05:00Is It Ribbit or Rip It?<div style="text-align: justify;">I haven't gotten to a place of peace about these socks. With every round knit, there is a nagging at the back of my mind. I was successful at stranding loosely across the back, but I just don't like the socks. This is the first time that I've done any colorwork on socks. I've never even changed colors for rounds and it has been a rude awakening for me. Can you see how the fabric is not smooth, but has puckers at the color change? Sooooo, they will be ripped back to the beginning and become much more simple.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCUm6hjnr7yzPhKL-JB1kiwGrJPCr-7CUSxGMQKS1Qz0vcbVnvWtHURAzu8E22QvflsynJu2dk64j-JHJXXM329BSfw1lOF-AJapdscu-wjlNi-RCHHiShwh5ojkeXMn9IYBmvhxgVugpt/s1600/DSC04059.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCUm6hjnr7yzPhKL-JB1kiwGrJPCr-7CUSxGMQKS1Qz0vcbVnvWtHURAzu8E22QvflsynJu2dk64j-JHJXXM329BSfw1lOF-AJapdscu-wjlNi-RCHHiShwh5ojkeXMn9IYBmvhxgVugpt/s320/DSC04059.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">I do like the Knitpicks yarn, it is sturdy and believe me I know 'cause I've ripped back about 10 times. What knitting project should cause such heart and headache? Is this not a pleasurable hobby? Those dang frogs! Rippit, Rippit, Rippit...</div>Zinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10477063035482257867noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6749271016794111302.post-54366922395389580822011-10-10T10:41:00.002-05:002011-10-11T06:45:11.344-05:00Mother May I<div style="text-align: justify;">Does anyone remember the game Mother May I? You take a given number of steps forward as "mother" gives permission, anticipating that you are getting closer to the fnish line. Suddenly the game turns and you have to go back to the beginning. That is what the beginning of this sock reminds me of. I have started over about 5 times. Sigh.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">After looking on the Internet for a sock pattern with light colorwork and not finding one that I wanted, I forged ahead and cast on with no real plan in mind. I purchased this Knitpicks Stroll yarn from fellow Ravelers after seeing socks made of the two colors in someone else's projects. The day is rainy and the yarn is sunny! Perfect project for a day indoors.</div><br />

I knit tightly. Always have. I told myself to hold the strands loosely across the back and really thought that I had accomplished that feat. But, alas, it is not so. They are really tight and the frog has come a-knockin.' I'm kind of glad, because I had been thinking to add navy to these really bright colors. Forhaps (as 4 year old Zoie--a girl at my church-- says) I will do so.<br />

Happy Monday!!Zinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10477063035482257867noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6749271016794111302.post-91669163474891763602011-10-07T11:05:00.000-05:002011-10-07T11:05:17.483-05:00Diana's Blossom Cowl FinishedAs promised, here is are pictures of my cowl. I actually have a few yards of the Malibrigo Silky Merino left as well as one full hank. There was a nominal amount of the Baby Merino Wool used.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMC9Tdb64xs4C_WYruImkrHgG6uDMqNy1ny_Ca_RPgMjs05kfYA7XfuXxcSEQe6imaGKlp1ORgicf5_ixum13G_mZqpK8I2A3z1P9NKxco263mlon894YkAsIHFBG-PSmCyVrDRuXzTD1C/s1600/DSC04047.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMC9Tdb64xs4C_WYruImkrHgG6uDMqNy1ny_Ca_RPgMjs05kfYA7XfuXxcSEQe6imaGKlp1ORgicf5_ixum13G_mZqpK8I2A3z1P9NKxco263mlon894YkAsIHFBG-PSmCyVrDRuXzTD1C/s400/DSC04047.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">I also added the shell design to the chain stitch edge for a better finished look. I really like the cowl. It is sooo soft and the addition of the pink flowers makes it very feminine--a nice touch of Spring to wear during the winter months!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmtb2z4htDPuKFzoduolVD3hbvFhlUWJKvNhzCAABDdLWgGWAd6L7S9aBtai_GXZABZOqggNu3RH8PvOGSzae-0nS8OV-XqXP_1CDxcfF3MhmYTO-PzOKxzVe6DuWHIhShuC827OWiieLB/s1600/DSC04041.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmtb2z4htDPuKFzoduolVD3hbvFhlUWJKvNhzCAABDdLWgGWAd6L7S9aBtai_GXZABZOqggNu3RH8PvOGSzae-0nS8OV-XqXP_1CDxcfF3MhmYTO-PzOKxzVe6DuWHIhShuC827OWiieLB/s400/DSC04041.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>Once again, thank you Andrea for the lovely yarn and <a href="http://www.interweavecrochet.com/Accessories-2010.asp">Interweave Crochet Accessories</a> magazine!! I have socks on my mind now, so I think that I will peruse the internet and see what I might like to cast on.<br />

I pulled it out this morning and decided to make mine a cowl instead. I chained 100 stitches, joined in the round and it is well underway. The Malibrigo yarn is wonderful, and the simplicity of the pattern, makes for a quick project. I anticipate that I will finish sometime today. Oklahoma City is now warm during the day and cool at night, so this lacy cowl will get much use throughout the next months.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">I hope to show a finished object pic tomorrow. I don't know of anything that would hinder me from getting this done today, so let's just count on it!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

It was a great event and I worked diligently to make sure that I had enough wares for the event.<br />
<br />
Here is a picture of a few of the baby items:<br />

<br />
I have to look through the pictures from the event to see if there are any usable shots. I think that my eyes were closed on EVERY one. My eyes are very sensitive to light and they don't want to stay open when the camera flashes. When I went to the DMV to get my driver's license renewed, the lady had to take my picture eight times. Finally, she told me to open my eyes really wide and when they want to close the picture would be taken before they could completely close. It worked. <br />
<br />
Have a great day!Zinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10477063035482257867noreply@blogger.com0
