Silence

Today there is no humming of the sewing machine.  No click-clack-clicking of knitting needles.  No sound of scissors cutting paper for closet dividers--actually I don't think this produces any sound.   For the first time in weeks, I am not working.  I got this order for an Etsy customer into the mail today and I am taking a little vacation.  I will be closing my Etsy shop for a few days in order to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday.

You know, maybe it's because of the red/white stripes, but this owl makes me think of the flag.  Am I the only one?
I was happy to find red/white striped fabric for the onesie embellishment.  This little owl started as a penguin, then an elephant, but they didn't seem to work for me.  I like owls.  I would never buy owl paperweights or owl ceramics, but I really do like them on babies.
I am in compliance CPSIA police!  I have included my care and manufacturing label.

Everyone in the U.S.--have a super Thanksgiving!

Color Me Happy

The day following the post about this hat was actually when I finished knitting and weaving in the ends, but I just made the flower and pom-poms this morning. We are having beautiful weather in OKC and I am happy to get an outside shot. I've noticed that many hats of this type are being marketed on Etsy as photo props. I'm considering going that route, but I may make some matching mittens. After all of the labor involved, I would rather market it as a functional piece of clothing. However, once an item is sold, it is certainly up to the owner to do whatever he or she wishes.

I have several pom-pom makers made by Clover and I use them often. Most often, I use the 2/1/2" maker, but I have makers for 1 3/8", 1 5/8", 2 1/2", 3 3/8", and a Jumbo pom-pom maker from Susan Bates that makes 3 1/2" and 4 1/2". I used the 1 3/8" maker for this hat and the pom-poms are a bit bigger than I wanted.

I am working on an adult sized hat and will show pics when I am done. I am also nearing the end of my Monkey sock. I have in my mind's queue a pair of mittens with peace sign motif for my daughter's upcoming birthday and a hat for my husband's upcoming birthday. Also, I have a baby shower coming up and I still have to work on the boutique's order. Whew! I had better get busy. Have a super day!!
