Nearly Done...

....with sock one. This pattern is very simple. In fact, it is so simple that you are sure to make a mistake if you don't pay attention to which pattern row you should be working. The first and all odd numbered rows are k2,p2 around. All even rows are knit around. I have caught myself knitting when I should have followed the odd number row instructions. Luckily, you see that you have made a mistake on the following row because the pattern is easily identifiable.

I cannot say that I will finish both socks before the end of October. They are really nice looking when you put them on and so mayble that will give me the incentive to finish. Nothing like hand knit socks. They sure feel wonderful on your feet!

I messed around and did not get signed up for the Craft fair that I was so anticipating. I may contact them and see if they offer late registration. I cannot even believe that I let it pass me by when I have looked forward to participating since they held it last year. Sigh.

Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone!

It's A Wrap

Well, I've sucessfully completed about half of my toe-up sock. My view point on it up to this point would be:

Dislikes:
1) the short-row toe, it doesn't look "clean" enough for me
2) having to pick up an extra stitch after working the short-rows

Likes:
1) the short-row heel
2) how fast you get through the heel because you didn't have to work a heel flap and gussetts

So far, I have decided that my next sock may be knitted cuff-down with a short-row heel. I also may try the figure 8 cast on for toe-up before I completely rule out toe-up.

I'm headed to the kitchen to get some lunch, and then to the back room for some sewing. Have a wonderful weekend.

Socktoberfest Sock Progress

Finally, after about 4 attempts, I have accomplished the short-row toe. I know well how to work a short-row, and I also know well how to work a double-wrap short-row, but for some reason when I tried to follow Wendy's method, my comprehension was dull. So, I just frogged it and did it as I know how.

The pattern that I've chosen is found in Ravelry. It is the Harris Tweed and is very simple. I had to change some things since it's toe-up and so far it just looks like K2, P2. I'm not going to change it since what I'm really trying to do is learn this new method.

Back to knitting. Have a Super Saturday!

Socktoberfest

I will be casting on for my Socktoberfest socks this evening. This yarn that was dyed a few weeks ago for my birthday socks will be used. I will post the beginnings of my socks tomorrow. Happy sock knitting fellow Socktoberfesters!
