Sophisticated Baby,...

...and well dressed,  is what will be said of baby Zachariah once he makes his appearance.  I needed a gift for a baby shower on Saturday and after considering a few patterns in Ravelry, I am so happy that I settlled on the Baby Sophisticate.   I cast on Wednesday evening and by Friday morning the sweater was completely knit and blocked.

I used Berroco Vintage in a heathered brown and, I have to also call this a one skein wonder.  I even have a few yards of yarn left over.  The hat is very stretchy and will fit for quite a while.  The pattern is entitled Little Boy Blue was also found in Ravelry.  To complete the look of a little professor I embellished a onesie with a plaid tie.

There are quite a few comments in Ravelry about the size of the sweater.  It tends to run small, but I made the supposedly 6-12 month size with the sleeve length for the smaller size so that it would fit 0-3 months.  The mom to be loved it and so do I.

  1. I really liked this sweater when I was looking to knit for new babies in the family, but they are girls, so I will save it for the next time. The onesie is adorable!

  2. Thank you! I saw that many people made the sweater in girl colors and it works!
