Baby Sack

It's easy to see why fellow Ravelers enjoyed this pattern and many have stated that they are sure to make it again.  There are, however,  some areas in which you are left to figure it out on your own.  Anyone who has made a sweater (especially one with a placket)  could figure it out easily enough.

I thought that I'd "push" the "easy button" and use snaps and faux buttons as it were. If I ever make it again, I would go ahead and make the button holes. Using snaps causes you to spend more money, and do more work.  Sewing them on was pretty time consuming.  Each snap has 6 stinkin' holes around it and you have to sew two pieces for every snap.  It turned out well and I'm happy to have a finished item this many days out from the shower.

I plan to make onesie cookies for the shower, I guess I will have to take them off of my "I'll Never Do This Again" list. LOL.  Just the reason, I try never to say never.

Finished Cowl

As I stated in my last post, I am showing a picture of the completed cowl.  It still needs to be blocked, but I love it.  It doesn't seem to bother me when I put it on, but I don't leave it on long.  It's about 130 thousand degrees in Oklahoma City.

There has been quite a bit of knitting going on.  I've had to close to my Etsy shop for a few days to concentrate on knitting.  More conversations and pictures to come!

Saartje's Booties - Post Two

I finished seaming shortly after the initial post, but my camera would not cooperate.   After about 15 tries, I ended up using my daughter's camera. 

I've had these little rose buttons for years and I was glad that they worked for this project.  I have started the other shoe and will get it done sometime.  They are a quick project...sure to get plenty of ooohs and awwws at the baby shower.

Endings and Beginnings

No more Monkey socks on the needles.  I am so happy to have finally completed them.  I pretty much breezed through the second sock.  I had the pattern memorized and I was able to chat with a friend, watch a movie, and knit in the car.  None of which I could do while knitting the first sock.

After it's all said and done, it wasn't a bad knit.  I may even make them again sometime.  You know that I'm very careful about saying never, so I'll just say you never know.

Put A Fork In It...Cause It's Done

I've finished the hat and just wanted to further share some things that I've learned:

First of all, NEVER eat chocolate chip cookies while knitting.

Secondly, when working the jogless stripe method, it's a good idea to work your increase rounds on non-color change rounds. Working them on the same rounds reminded me of this thing that we used to do as kids...pat your head and rub your belly. Too much for the brain!

Thirdly, changing colors and wrapping yarn does not look so good when purling (see the strange sort of gappy purled area)

Last of all, the best thing that I learned was that a marker is not necessary at all in the process. You are able to identify when to next change colors by placement of the last color change. One day, I will do my own tutorial with pictures and you will see how totally easy it is.
