Thing One

Paige (my oldest daughter) had initially requested the colors pink and purple for her gift, but she saw the black and white set in my Etsy shop and decided on it.  I was more than happy for her choice because that left me with only the hat and booties to knit.  The booties are made in 3 pieces (6 pieces total for a pair) and are sewn together.  It doesn't seem right that something so small should be so much work.  Although they are labor intensive, I always sort of gush over them when they are done.

Here is the total set all done and ready to be gifted.   I don't have time to revel in the sweetness of it, as I have more knitting to do.

More pictures to come!  Have a great weekend!

A Little Latte

I will be attending a baby shower next weekend and have begun the knitting of this little sweater. As you can see the pattern is in Danish. Although I googled the translation, it is still very unclear. I will simply keep referring to the picture and see if I have any mad knitting skills. I did realize that the bottom color should have been only two rows, but I decided to make mine four. The mom-to-be likes yellow and so I'll give her a little bit more.

My daughter is also attending a baby shower the same day and I am also working on some things for her, plus I have an order from a friend who will be attending the same shower as I for a hat and onesie set. Can't say at this point that the birthday knitting will take place. I may have to go to the mall. Somehow, I don't think anyone in my house would be dissappointed by that.

Have a super day!

Rare Sunday Post

One of the young ladies from my church is having a baby girl in a couple of weeks. Her shower was held yesterday. This hat has been at the last stages of completetion for weeks. We received pretty short notice for the shower and I was happy to have something on the needles.

I put a little "yarnie" tail on the elephant to try to pull it all together.

Have a super Sunday!

Things that begin with the letter "S"

Shoes, shower and sleep. I made shoes. I went to a shower. I got very little sleep because I decided to make these little shoes at the comtotalpletely last minute. I purchased the pattern late in the evening and did not get into bed until around 3:oo a.m. Then I got up at 7:00 a.m. to make the other shoe--on the day of the shower, which seems to be my way.

This is my first time purchasing a pattern and also my first time crocheting baby shoes. The pattern can be found here (nonRaverly), Ravelry. They are way cute, and worth all of the missed sleep. I made the newborn size with Cotton-Ease in Taupe and Sea Spray. My friend has a baby boy and so I embellished a bodysuit with a tie to complete the gift.

I hope that your Tuesday is everything that you want it to be! Have a great one!!

Hedgie Hedgehog

There are people selling handmade items on Etsy with unbelievable abilities. I came across Tadpoles and Tutus a few months ago and knew that I would buy something from this store in the future. Among church members, we have had 5 babies born in recent months. With babysitting this summer and getting things ready for my own Etsy store, I haven't had the time to knit something for each one.

A few of us chipped in and got this outfit and I knit some booties to match. This little Hedgie Hedgehog bodysuit and hat set are absolutely adorable. Heidi (the owner) has mad skills. Her workmanship is topnotch. I highly recommend her.

If you are in need of a shower gift, or if you just want something for your own child, head on over to TadpolesandTutus.etsy.com. You will not be dissapointed.

Well, I'm heading out to the garage to dye yarn today. I've got my math-mind ready. Have a great day!

Pink and Teal Nesting Suitcase Gift Set

I purchased this little paperboard nesting suitcase a year, or so, ago with the intent of making a gift set. At that time, I did not have any teal yarn, nor did I know that I would get some. But, about 3 months ago I saw the yarn on the internet and ordered it. It has been sitting amongst the stash ever since. I have an ever growing stash of yarn inventory for the etsy business. Lots of fun and pretty colors. Lets see.... I have black, white, off-white, tan, darker brown (not chocolate) --I need chocolate, taupe, light green, darker green, red, pink, dark pink, fuschia, dark blue, light blue, azure blue, orange, yellow, and purple.

I couldn't bring myself to frog those pants yesterday although it is inevitable. I have those Christmas pants on my mind. Hopefully, I will get a chance to restart the striped pants and also start the Christmas pants today. I think that I will make the Christmas pants beginning with 3- 6 months rather than newborn. The pants that I now make that are 0 - 3 months are really too large for most newborns. The babies that are 10 pounds at birth are the best candidates for them at that age. My experience has been that babies are able to begin to wear them at about 2 months of age.

Back to the nesting suitcase. I don't know yet what will fill it, but the possibilities are exciting. Keep a look-out and have a Blessed Thursday.

To the Post Office

My best friend lives in Conneticut. She will be attending a baby shower on Monday and requested an outfit for a boy. Elephants are so gender-neutral. I think this will go over well.

I've sewn in the new label. The jury is still out about that. I'm leaning more towards ironing it in after the experience of sewing it in. I have included my business card and care instructions for the mom-to-be. I hope she likes it.

Head over to my etsy store at http://www.hisglory.etsy.com/ if you like these things, and take a look at the other stuff there.
